35 Easter babies born across Free State

As the Free State Health Department welcomed 20 newborn boys and 15 girls on Good Friday, a highlight was the decline in teenage pregnancies.

Free State Health MEC Monyatso Mahlatsi says the birth of 35 babies yesterday is a testament to the province’s strong maternity care, reports Parys Gazette.

The province welcomed 20 boys and 15 girls, with health officials noting a positive trend in birth weights and a drop in teenage pregnancies.

“We are overjoyed to welcome our Easter babies and congratulate all the families,” said Mahlatsi.

“The absence of prematurity and generally good birth weights reflect strong antenatal and maternity care,” he said.

Mahlatsi also thanked healthcare professionals for their tireless service.

He noted a significant decline in teenage pregnancy rates.
