4 dead, 7 injured in head-on crash in Limpopo

Preliminary investigations point to reckless and negligent driving as the possible cause of the incident, says Liaison Officer for the Department of Transport, Mike Maringa.

The police in Lephalale are investigation a case of culpable homicide following a fatal head-on collision on Saturday morning.

The collision happened at the at the intersection of Chris Hani and Nelson Mandela streets and involved a two sedans, said the Liaison Officer for the Department of Transport, Mike Maringa.

One of the sedans had eight occupants; four were certified dead on the scene and four escaped with injuries. Three occupants from the other sedan also escaped with injuries.

“All the injured were transported to the district hospital for medical treatment.”

Maringa says preliminary investigations point to reckless and negligent driving as the possible cause of the incident, however the exact cause will be determined through police investigations.
