4 killed in shoot-out with police on Durban’s M4 freeway

Four men were shot dead during a shoot-out with police on the M4 Southern freeway. The road was closed and investigations are underway.

Four men have been shot dead in a shoot-out with police on the M4 Southern freeway near the old airport last night.

According to Southlands Sun, ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said the M4 from Merebank southbound was closed as a result.

Paramedics arrived on the scene to find SAPS in attendance and the road closed off. They were shown to a vehicle where four men were found with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics assessed the men, however, all were declared dead on the scene.

“No police officers were injured in the shoot-out,” said Jamieson.

At this stage, the exact events leading to the shoot-out are unknown, however, all necessary authorities were in attendance and will be investigating further.

KZN police could not be reached for comment at the time of publishing.
