Four men aged 26 to 30 appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court today (September 23) in connection with the murder of a man found behind an abandoned inner-city building.

According to Pretoria Rekord the victim was found with severe blunt force injuries at the corner of Bosman and Nana Sita streets in the early hours of September 20.

Members of the Pretoria Central police Serious and Violent Crime Unit, including Sergeant Alphius Mmakola, Sergeant Lucky Mahlangu and Constable Themba Maisela, arrested the four suspects at the Drakensberg Flats following a tip-off from a witness.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thabang Nkhumise said the witness, who was allegedly assaulted by the group, provided information that led officers to the premises.

“Luckily, there was an informant whom the suspects also allegedly assaulted,” said Nkhumise. “He managed to give the police a lead in terms of where the suspects might be. A swift reaction by the team led to the identified place in the Drakensberg Flats in the inner city, where the four were found and brought in for questioning.”

All four suspects were denied bail pending further investigation.
