Four people facing charges of malicious damage to property are due to again appear in court tomorrow.

Mduduzi Masango (31) and Steven Mthombeni (27) who were yesterday arrested in connection with the torching of 51 Putco buses in KwaNdebele in January were remanded in custody by the Mdutjane Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga today.

According to an article published by Mpumalanga News, the men, who were arrested in Siyabuswa, are due to again appear in court tomorrow for a possible bail application.

They are facing charges of malicious damage to property.

On January 28, a day after the buses were torched, Isaac Mabena (29) and Luthando Trevor Skosana (37) were arrested.

Mabena and Skosana appeared in Mdutjane Magistrate’s Court on February 5 and their case was postponed until tomorrow when they are expected to make a formal bail application.

“The arrests were made as part of an ongoing investigation into the incident that occurred on January 27.

“The suspects are believed to have been involved in the co-ordinated attack on the bus fleet, causing significant damage to the vehicles and posing a threat to public safety,” says provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli.
