AKA, Tibz murder: Five suspects return to Durban court
Five men appeared in court in Durban today in connection with the murder of rapper AKA, a day after two others appeared for the same crime in Eswatini.
The case of five men who were arrested for the murders of rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and renowned chef Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane has been postponed to March 14.
Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi (30), Lindani Zenzele Ndimande (35), Siyanda Eddie Myeza (21), Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni (36) and Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande (29), appeared on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and five counts of attempted murder.
The men appeared briefly at the Durban Magistrate’s Court today.
In February last year, Forbes and Motsoane were shot dead outside a restaurant on Florida Road, just outside the Durban CBD.
The state has added two more charges of money laundering. All five will be detained at the Westville prison.
More arrests in Eswatini
In the meantime, two men appeared in court in Eswatini yesterday for their alleged involvement in the crime. Their case has been postponed to March 12.
Brothers, Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande appeared briefly in the Manzini Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
They were arrested at Zone 4, located outside the capital, Mbabane, just over a week ago.
According to the state prosecutor, papers for their extradition to South Africa were being prepared and will be submitted within 30 days.
He requested for a postponement to allow for more time for the preparation of the extradition process.
“We are treating the matter with utmost urgency,” he said.
Once in South Africa, the brothers will face charges of murder and attempted murder.
