Amajuba district town planner killed

The Amajuba District Municipality said it would issue a statement after consulting with the deceased’s family.

The Amajuba District Municipality town planner, Mthokozisi Ndaba, was shot dead in Arbour Park at around 09:00 yesterday (February 14).

Circumstances surrounding his death is still unclear. According to unconfirmed reports, he was shot twice, fatally wounding him, reports Northern Natal News.

According to information received, police have arrested two suspects in connection with the shooting and are currently still searching for more suspects.

Amajuba district spokesperson, Sbonelo Cebekhulu said an official statement will be released after consulting with the family of the deceased.

The Newcastle Advertiser has reached out to Amajuba District SAPS Spokesperson, Constable Nonjabulo Langa for official comment.

However, none was received by the time of publication.

At the beginning of this year, there was an attempt on Newcastle Municipality’s senior executive director for co-operative services, Dr Prince Dumisani Thabethe.

In January 2022 the speaker of the Amajuba District Council was shot and killed. Jerome Ndima was gunned down at his home in Newcastle.
