Armed robbery suspect killed, 2 others injured in Durban shoot-out
A suspect was killed and two others injured in a shoot-out on Queen Nandi Drive in KZN around lunchtime.
A suspect was fatally wounded and two others injured following a shoot-out involving members of Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team (SOT) on Queen Nandi Drive this afternoon.
Northglen News reports the incident occurred just after 12:30.
A fourth suspect involved in the incident was arrested by the Greenwood Park SAPS Trios Crime Unit.
The suspects had allegedly been involved in an armed robbery in Sydenham, Durban, and a member of the public followed them while informing authorities of their whereabouts.
“The member of the public lost sight of the vehicle in the Kenville area but had alerted law enforcement authorities. Our SOT and the Greenwood Park SAPS conducted a search for the suspects after a vehicle description was circulated,” explains Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.
“The suspects were then spotted turning out of Kew Road in Kenville onto Queen Nandi Drive when they opened fire on the SOT team. One suspect was fatally wounded, while two others were shot and injured. A fourth suspect was arrested on the scene by police. Fortunately, there were no other injuries,” he adds.
The suspects’ vehicle was not fitted with number plates, and two firearms were recovered by police on the scene.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says paramedics arrived to find the scene cordoned off and a vehicle in the middle of the road with four men lying on the ground.
“Paramedics found three males who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and assessed them. One had sustained major injuries, and there was nothing paramedics could do for him, and he was declared deceased on the scene. Two others had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies, and they were stabilised on the scene by paramedics before being transported to hospital. One male was uninjured,” he adds.
