“The member of the public lost sight of the vehicle in the Kenville area but they had alerted law enforcement authorities. Our SOT and the Greenwood Park SAPS conducted a search for the suspects after a vehicle description was circulated,” explained Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.
“The suspects were then spotted turning out of Kew Road in the Kenville area onto Queen Nandi Drive when they opened fire on the SOT team. One suspect was fatally wounded in the incident, while two others were shot and injured. A fourth suspect was arrested on scene by the police. Fortunately there were no other injuries,” he said.
The suspects’ vehicle was not fitted with number plates and two firearms were recovered by police on scene.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, also responded to the incident and said paramedics arrived to find the scene cornered off and a vehicle in the middle of the road with four men lying on the ground.
“Paramedics found three males who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and assessed them. One had sustained major injuries and there was nothing paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene. Two others had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to their body and they were stabilised on the scene by paramedics before being transported to a hospital. One male was uninjured on the scene,” he said.
