A group of armed men fled with over R45 000 worth of stolen goods after robbing a couple at their home in the Equestria suburb of Pretoria, last night.

The couple was tied up and robbed at gunpoint in their home in Nora Avenue in the east of Pretoria.

The suspects ransacked the place and fled the scene with the stolen property.

Tshwane district police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk says the incident happened around 21:30.

Van Dyk adds the police are investigating an armed house robbery.

He says the couple had just arrived home. The husband opened the main door and entered the house.

“After a few minutes, three unknown men entered the premises.”

Van Dyk says one of the suspects held the couple at gunpoint while another took out a knife.

He explains the suspects tied the couple’s hands with wires and shoelaces and forced them to lie down on the floor in the lounge room.

“The suspects searched the house and stole a Samsung TV, laptop, two cellphones and jewellery,” he adds.

Van Dyk says no shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
