Armed thieves rob couple at gunpoint in Equestria home
The couple’s hands were tied up and they were forced to lie on the floor while the suspects robbed them of their belongings.
A group of armed men fled with over R45 000 worth of stolen goods after robbing a couple at their Equestria home on Monday night, April 22.
The couple was tied up and robbed at gunpoint in their home in Nora Avenue in the east of Pretoria.
The suspects ransacked the place and fled the scene with the stolen property.
Tshwane district police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said the incident happened around 21:30.
Van Dyk said the police are investigating an armed house robbery.
He said the couple had just arrived home. The husband opened the main door and entered the house.
“After a few minutes, three unknown men entered the premises.”
Van Dyk said one of the suspects held the couple at gunpoint while another took out a knife.
He said the suspects tied the couple’s hands with wires and shoelaces and forced them to lie down on the floor in the lounge room.
“The suspects searched the house and stole a Samsung TV, laptop, two cellphones and jewellery,” he said.
Van Dyk said no shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
He urged anyone with information to contact the police or share it anonymously on the MySaps App.
