Bail for Groblersdal man accused of assaulting a minor
The man who was arrested at a fast food restaurant in Limpopo after allegedly assaulting a teenage boy received bail this morning.

Corrie Pretorius (50), who was recently arrested for allegedly assaulting a 16-year-old boy in the parking lot of a Fat Cake City branch in Groblersdal, was granted bail earlier today.
Adv JJ Venter brought his bail application on appeal in the Polokwane High Court this morning after bail was earlier denied in the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court.
Bail of R20 000 was awarded to Pretorius, on condition that he reports to the Marble Hall police every second week and that his passport be handed over to the investigating officer.
Venter said he would also negotiate a plea agreement with the state advocate.
The incident in which Pretorius allegedly pointed a firearm at a teenager and assaulted him was captured on video and was shared widely on social media. It took place on June 15 at around 19:15 when Pretorius ordered food at the restaurant.
In an affidavit, that was accepted by the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court during the initial bail application, an eyewitness recounted how a teenage boy repeatedly mocked Pretorius before the incident was caught on camera.
Food was allegedly taken from him, he was sworn at, there was an attempt to take his firearm from him and comments were made about his parents, allegedly by a group of drunk teenagers.
Middelburg Observer earlier reported that Pretorius was transferred to Paxton Correctional Services in eMalahleni after being assaulted. Adv Billy Mudavhi, chief prosecutor in Groblersdal, confirmed his transfer, saying “it was for his own safety.”
