Police are investigating the possibility of a double murder after a man and his wife were yesterday found dead in their home in Boipatong in Vanderbijlpark.

The couple was discovered by a neighbour. It is alleged that neighbours heard shots during load-shedding the night before.

Bystanders on the scene said the incident brought them a sense of fear, adding that they no longer feel safe, especially during load-shedding.

Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that police have opened a murder case docket.

“No suspects have been arrested; the motive for the murder is unknown at the moment. Police investigations are underway.”

A source who did not want to be named said the husband is an employee of Emfuleni Local Municipality.
