A man’s body was yesterday discovered in a shallow grave at a residence on Arnoldi Street in Heidelberg.

Local police confirmed that the residence was once occupied by Jaén-Lee Pyne, the suspect in the Ueckermann Street shooting. He lived at the residence with other tenants.

Reports indicate that Pyne had stayed at the premises for five years.

During the incident on Ueckermann Street, Etienne du Preez (74) was cold-bloodedly shot on July 3, while Flip Minnaar (66) was injured.

The identity of the body discovered yesterday has not yet been revealed.

Pyne is currently out on bail in connection with the case involving the murder of Du Preez and the attempted murder of Minnaar. His next court appearance is scheduled for November 12.

Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo confirms that an extensive investigation is underway.

According to Masondo, police received a tip-off leading to the excavation, during which a body wrapped in a carpet was found in the front garden.
