Body of strangled man found next to Mpumalanga road

While a man was found dead on the side of the road, his vehicle is still missing.

A man’s body, with what appears to be a strap of packaging rope around his neck and hands, was found lying next to the R42 at the Strydpan T-junction in Delmas, Mpumalanga, yesterday.

Delmas police received a call at around 11:53 yesterday, about a person lying next to the road.

The victim was declared dead on the scene.

He was wearing blue denim trousers and a white and dark plaid long-sleeve shirt. A brown jacket was also on the scene.

While the man’s identity document was found on him, his name cannot be released until his next of kin has been notified.

Captain Carla Hartley, the spokesperson for the Delmas police, confirmed that the deceased is a South African citizen, aged 47.

According to the investigation, the vehicle in which the deceased was travelling, a White VW Polo with a Gauteng registration number, is still missing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the investigating officer, Captain Phillimon Morifi, on 082 370 0899.
