Body recovered from manhole in Kempton Park

SAPS Water Policing and Diving Services retrieved the body of a woman from a 10-metre-deep manhole in Pomona.

SAPS Ekurhuleni Water Policing and Diving Services (WPDS) responded to a scene in Pomona and recovered a body yesterday, reports Kempton Express.

According to communications officer Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, members were alerted after passers-by saw the body of a woman in an approximately 10-metre-deep manhole.

Giblin said members responded together with the Kempton Park Fire Brigade.

“The body of the woman was recovered from the manhole using high-angle equipment, and an inquest docket will be opened to investigate the cause of death,” said Giblin.
