Border Management Authority intercepts drug mule carrying R2m heroin at OR Tambo
A man arriving on a flight from Ghana was caught with suspected illicit substances in his luggage.
A 52-year-old South African national has been arrested at OR Tambo International Airport after police found suspected heroin worth more than R2m in his luggage, reports Kempton Express.
The latest arrest brings the total number of suspected drug mules arrested at this port of entry to three in the past three weeks.
Police, supported by the Border Management Authority (BMA), intercepted the suspect on Sunday (September 20), following his arrival on a flight from Accra, Ghana.
Substance hidden in luggage
A search of his luggage revealed bullet-like objects and blocks containing substances suspected to be heroin.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court later this week to face drug trafficking charges, while investigations continue.
