Breakthrough in ‘complicated’ murder case of Limpopo man
The police in Limpopo arrested three suspects; the deceased's wife, her boyfriend as well as an accomplice.
The wife of a 43-year-old man from Moletjie , Limpopo is one of three people arrested on Wednesday, 18 November, in connection with his murder.
The man was attacked and stabbed several times at his home in Moletjie, Ga-Makweya, in an apparent house robbery on 8 April. Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, said in a statement that the murder case is, however, “complicated”.
“The case is believed to be domestic related. When police arrived at the scene at the time, the deceased’s wife reported that three unknown suspects forcefully entered the house, attacked her husband and took money as well as a laptop, before they fled the scene,” Ngoepe explained.
He said police investigations and a manhunt ensued. The Deputy Provincial Police Commissioner, Maj Gen Samuel Manala, took over the the investigation and the wife (38), her alleged boyfriend (27) and an accomplice (30) were arrested in Namakgale, outside Phalaborwa, and in Moletjie.
“The motive behind this murder is not clear at this stage but ongoing police investigations will tell. The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba is impressed by the meticulous investigations conducted by this team of detectives, led by Manala.”
The suspects are expected to appear in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 20 November.
“They face charges of conspiracy to commit murder, murder, perjury, defeating the ends of justice and the contravention of the Disaster Management Act, as they broke curfew,” Ngoepe concluded.
