Bushbuckridge woman returns home unharmed after abduction
Khensani Mathebula has returned home after being abducted by six armed men, while police continue searching for the suspects.
Bushbuckridge police have confirmed that Khensani Mathebula (36), who was abducted from her home in Orinoco Trust on Wednesday, has returned home unharmed.
Lowvelder reports that according to Sergeant Merilyne Mmonwa, the spokesperson for the Bushbuckridge Police Station, Mathebula returned yesterday morning.
Details surrounding her return remain unclear.
“The investigation is ongoing to apprehend the suspects. We are grateful that she came back home alive and unharmed,” says Mmonwa.
Mathebula and her family were awakened by the sound of their kitchen door being forced open.
Mmonwa said six men entered the house – two armed with pistols – and demanded money. Two of the men took Mathebula’s son outside, while the others remained inside with Mathebula and two others.
Mathebula’s son says he saw his mother being forced into a vehicle parked a short distance from the house. He could only describe it as a bakkie.
The suspects took Mathebula’s Samsung A25 cellphone and a laptop and fired a single gunshot before fleeing with her.
The identities of the suspects, who remain at large, are unknown. Police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist the investigation.
The investigating officer, Colonel Tinyiko Mnisi, can be contacted on 079 891 4807. Information can also be provided anonymously via the national Crime Stop line on 08600 10111 or through the MySAPS app.
