Case against KZN father and son accused of murder postponed

The pair accused of killing a young woman will spend Christmas in jail.

Father and son Manoj (58) and Sanjoth Madhan (28) were back in court last week on charges of the 2022 murder of Mercisha Tedpaul, who was in a relationship with Manoj’s youngest son, Nishkar.

Tedpaul (24) went missing on March 1, 2022.

Following an intensive search, her body was found four days later on a hill near a railway line in Watt Road in Dundee in KZN.

She had been strangled to death.

Initially, Manoj’s wife Sarika (47) was also charged, but charges were withdrawn in November last year.

Both father and son have been in custody since their arrest.

Court proceedings are set to continue on March 4.

However, the Madhans’ attorney, Melokuhle Shabangu, intends to bring to court another bail application based on new facts.
