Many motorists may not be aware that their car licence has expired or will expire while on holiday and may be given a fine for driving an unlicensed vehicle.

The SA Post Office urges motorists in KwaZulu-Natal to check their car licences before going on holiday.

Many motorists may not be aware that their car licence has expired or will expire while on holiday and may be given a fine for driving an unlicensed vehicle, Berea Mail reports.

There are close to 40 post office branches in KwaZulu-Natal where vehicle owners may renew their vehicle licence. By law, vehicle licence renewal must be done in the province where the vehicle is registered and cannot be done while on holiday in another province.

Motorists who did not receive a renewal notice can download the renewal form from www.postoffice.co.za Click on “Products”, then “Domestic” and choose “Motor vehicle licences”.

Motorists who have received a traffic fine issued in terms of the AARTO Act may pay the traffic fine at any Post Office countrywide.
