Child among 4 killed in Delft shooting
The Anti-Gang Unit is investigating a possible execution-style killing that left four people dead in the Western Cape.
Three men and a 13-year-old boy were shot in the head in Voorbrug, Delft, Cape Town, at 19:20 yesterday.
Provincial SAPS spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut says officers responded to a shooting in Zandkloof Street, where they discovered the bodies of three men, aged 28, 40 and 41, and a 13-year-old boy inside a granny flat.
“All four sustained gunshot wounds to the head in what appears to be an execution-style killing,” adds Traut.
Traut says, according to preliminary information, two men entered the granny flat on foot, opened fire and fled the scene on foot.
“The motive is believed to be gang-related, and the Anti-Gang Unit is investigating the matter. All efforts are underway to trace and arrest the suspects,” he adds.
Traut says police have condemned the killings.
Investigations
The incident follows a similar attack earlier this week in New Cross, Gugulethu, where detectives from the Western Cape Serious and Violent Crime Unit launched an investigation after two men and a woman were fatally shot.
Traut urges anyone with information about both shootings to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS app anonymously.
“All information will be treated with strict confidentiality,” he adds.
