Child’s body parts found scattered in field in KZN
The body parts were found scattered across an area roughly the size of three rugby fields that included dense bush and a river.
Several body parts of a child, believed to be a 7-year-old boy who was reported missing in Stanger last week, were found near Groutville in KwaZulu-Natal yesterday.
Though it has not been confirmed by forensic analysis, the parts match the general description of the child who went missing from Ntshawini on Thursday.
“It is believed he was playing with friends when he disappeared. We do not have further information about the incident at this time,” says KwaDukuza SAPS spokesperson, Constable Sipesihle Myeni.
According to Medi Response KZN the initial search for the missing boy did not yield results. It is alleged that a relative received information via SMS and reported it to the police
Myeni confirmed that the parents approached KwaDukuza SAPS after receiving an SMS with information about where the child could be found.
SAPS and Medi Response KZN search and rescue teams scoured the area in question.
“Multiple body parts were found across an area roughly the size of three rugby fields, in dense bush and in a nearby stream,” says Medi Response KZN spokesperson, Paul Herbst.
Myeni says a case of murder has been opened for further investigation.
