Covid-19 cases soaring in Gauteng
4 624 people are currently hospitalised in public and private health facilities.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stood at 98 431 with 33 514 recoveries and 644 deaths on Sunday.
The department of health said on Monday, out of 42 706 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19), 26 335 people have completed the 14 days monitoring period, with no symptoms reported and they were de-isolated.The department said 4 624 people were currently hospitalised in public and private facilities.
Breakdown per district of cases and recoveries:
- Johannesburg: 44 945 cases and 19 629 recoveries
- Ekurhuleni: 21 810 cases and 7 707 recoveries
- Tshwane: 16 701 cases and 3 774 recoveries
- Sedibeng: 5 023 cases and 992 recoveries
- West Rand: 6 483 cases and 1 412 recoveries
