Covid-19: Mpumalanga’s active cases stand at 647 as of October 6
South Africa has recorded 683 242 confirmed infections, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Tuesday, October 6. A total of 27 705 of those cases have been reported in Mpumalanga.

According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, there have been 26 492 recoveries and 566 deaths to date.
The number of positive cases in the province can be broken down as follows:

Ehlanzeni District
- Bushbuckridge: 912 cases, 846 recoveries and 17 deaths
- City of Mbombela: 5 053 cases, 4 773 recoveries and 44 deaths
- Nkomazi: 2 109 cases, 2 028 recoveries and 36 deaths
- Thaba Chweu: 438 cases and 409 recoveries and 10 deaths.
Gert Sibande District
- Chief Albert Luthuli: 744 cases, 706 recoveries and 19 deaths
- Dipaliseng: 341 cases and 325 recoveries and 15 deaths
- Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 941 cases, 921 recoveries and 18 deaths
- Govan Mbeki: 3 638 cases, 3 537 recoveries and 59 deaths
- Lekwa: 1 143 cases, 1 072 recoveries and 59 deaths
- Mkhondo: 552 cases, 510 recoveries and 28 deaths
- Msukaligwa: 1 630 cases, 1 528 recoveries and 45 deaths.
Nkangala District
- Dr JS Moroka: 398 cases, 385 recoveries and nine deaths
- eMakhazeni: 458 cases and 433 recoveries and 17 deaths
- eMalahleni: 5 503 cases, 5 348 recoveries and 99 deaths
- Steve Tshwete: 2 749 cases, 2 619 recoveries and 61 deaths
- Thembisile Hani: 640 cases, 608 recoveries and 20 deaths
- Victor Khanye: 456 cases and 444 recoveries and 10 deaths.
