Crash on R521 in Limpopo leaves six dead, eight injured

The incident happened near Marobjane Cross in the Capricorn district on Saturday, 12 December.

LIMPOPO – A total of six people died and a further eight people injured after the minibus taxi they were travelling in rolled along the R521 road, next to Marobjane Cross.

Media Liaison Officer for the Department of Transport, Mike Maringa says it is alleged the driver of the taxi lost control of the vehicle causing the vehicle to overturn.

Maringa added that six people died on the scene and eight others were critically injured and were transported to the Helene Franz Hospital for further medical care.

“Mechanical failure has been cited as the possible cause of this incident.”

Transport and Community Safety MEC, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya sent his condolences to the affected families and also call on motorists to check the condition of their vehicles before every trip.
