Daughter discovers Bloemfontein couple’s bodies in their home

The teenager made the discovery when she visited the main house from the adjacent cottage she and her brother shares.

A teenager discovered the bodies of her parents in a pool of blood in their house in Hospital Park, Bloemfontein early yesterday. Both had sustained gunshot wounds.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thabo Covane says police responded to a call at a house in Hager Cresent where they discovered the lifeless bodies of a 47-year-old husband and 38-year-old wife

“The two bodies were discovered by their 17-year-old daughter at around 06:00 when she entered the main house from an outside cottage that she shares with her brother,” says Covane.

He says the girl rushed back to the cottage to alert her brother (21) whereafter they called the police.

A team of investigators and Local Criminal Record Centre experts were summoned to the scene.

“They processed the scene and discovered that the female victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the body and head while the male had one gunshot wound to the head. Both the deceased are employed by the Mangaung Metro Municipality’s Traffic Department,” Covane says.

No further information is available at this stage. The investigation continues.
