Decomposing body found wrapped in blankets in KZN home

A body discovered under a bed is believed to be that of a man reported missing last Saturday.

Durban North Police have opened a case of murder following the discovery of a body wrapped in blankets under a bed at a home on Ridge Road in uMhlanga yesterday morning.

The deceased, believed to be a man, was discovered by a resident who reported a foul smell coming from another tenant’s room.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, they were contacted by the Umhlanga Urban Improvement Precinct.

“An inspector was flagged down by a resident on Ridge Road reporting a foul smell coming from another tenant’s room. During the inspection, a grim discovery was made – the tenant’s body was found wrapped in blankets under the bed.

“The deceased, reportedly missing since Saturday, had been the subject of concern among family members. Adding to the alarm, the tenant’s vehicle – a Mercedes-Benz – is also missing,” he says.

No arrests have been made, but investigations are ongoing, he adds.
