Deputy President Paul Mashatile collapses at Tzaneen event

Paul Mashatile collapsed at a community event in Tzaneen with the cause speculated to be a heatwave in the area.

Deputy President Paul Mashatile collapsed at an event in Tzaneen earlier this afternoon and has been rushed to hospital.

Mashatile was addressing guests at the 15th annual N’wamitwa Day in Valoyi Cultural Village.

It is still not clear as to how Mashatile is doing, but the suspected cause is the current heatwave in the area.

It is speculated that he was rushed to the Tzaneen Medi Clinic.

The village is led by Hosi Tinyiko N’wamitwa, who is the first female chief to be recognised in the country.

The celebrations died down as the mood quickly changed and the programme was subsequently cut short.
