Lucky Clara Mahlabane (43), who was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder of her domestic worker, appeared in court on Friday.

Mahlabane appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder.

The matter was postponed to May 16 for the formal bail application hearing.

Mahlabane’s arrest followed the discovery of a woman’s body in a street in Tonga. The police, who responded to the scene, noticed visible bruises on the victim’s body and a murder case was opened.

It is alleged that the victim was employed as a domestic worker and that she went to Mahlabane’s house for a cash transfer. The victim was then assaulted, allegedly by Mahlabane and two other people, until she lost consciousness. She was left in the street.
