Double murder suspect arrested after Diepkloof school shooting

Police have arrested a 20-year-old suspect linked to a school shooting that left two dead and five injured.

Members of the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) received crucial information from the Crime Intelligence Unit and arrested a 20-year-old suspect in connection with a Westbury double murder and an attempted murder at a high school in Diepkloof, Soweto, on Wednesday.

Soweto Urban reports that upon arrival, AGU members positively identified the suspect and placed him under arrest.

Ongoing investigation

The incident resulted in two deaths and five counts of attempted murder. Investigations are ongoing to track down the remaining suspects.

Two of the five victims have been discharged from hospital.

SAPS has urged the public to assist in the investigation by providing any information on the whereabouts of the suspects. Tips can be reported to the SAPS Crime Stop line at 08600 10111.
