Drugs valued at R750 000 seized in KZN: Man appears in court

A man who was arrested earlier this month after being found in possession of drugs is due to appear in court next week to apply for bail.

The suspect (43) arrested by SAPS from Amajuba District in KZN, with R750 000 worth of drugs in his possession, appeared in the Madadeni Magistrate’s court yesterday.

According to an article published by North Coast Courier, he was arrested on March 5, when 13 597 mandrax tablets were found in his house and car.

The operation, dubbed Vala Umgodi, was part of ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities in the area.

SAPS stated at the time that police acted quickly after receiving reliable information about a person involved in drug distribution.

The case was postponed to March 18 for a formal bail application.

The accused remains in custody.
