Durban family held at gunpoint in their home
Four armed suspects, wearing masks and gloves, gained access to the property by derailing the driveway gate.
A QUEENSBURGH family of four are receiving counselling following an armed robbery at their home on Tuesday evening.
“Blue Security armed-response units raced to the scene after receiving information about the attack on the family,” said Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios.
“It is alleged four armed suspects, wearing masks and gloves, gained access to the property by derailing the driveway gate. They then proceeded to the house and entered through the open kitchen entrance,” Mathios said.
“The four family members were held up at gunpoint as the suspects ransacked the house.
“Four laptops, jewellery and the victim’s car keys were taken,” he said. “The suspects fled in a white VW Polo with no number plate. Fortunately for the family, no shots were fired and no-one was injured during the incident,” he said.
“Trauma counselling has been arranged for the family. Malvern SAPS attended the scene and investigations are continuing,” he added.
