Durban man seriously injured by family dog

Reports state the man, believed to be in his early 60s, was bitten by his Boerboel when he returned after a night out.

A man from Glenwood, Durban, is in critical condition after being bitten by his family dog in the early hours of this morning.

The SAPS and local private security services were in attendance to help separate the man from the dog so they could get access to the patient.

Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says: “Advanced Life Support Paramedics responded to the scene in Westridge, Glenwood, just after 06:30 and found a male, who they believe to be in his early 60s, in critical condition after being bitten by the family dog.”

The man was stabilised by ALS paramedics and transported to a nearby hospital where he required urgent care, adds Jamieson.

It is said that the Boerboel bit the owner upon his arrival in the morning after a night out.

SAPS have launched an investigation.
