Easter mass wedding in Gauteng

More than 50 couples are expected to tie the knot at a church in Zuurbekom.

The International Pentecost Holiness Church (IPHC) is set to host its annual Easter mass wedding at its headquarters in Zuurbekom on Gauteng’s West Rand today, reports The Witness.

More than 50 couples are expected to tie the knot, with some entering marriage for the first time while others will be part of polygamous unions, a practice recognised within the church’s traditions.

The large-scale ceremony forms part of the church’s Easter celebrations and has become a longstanding feature of its calendar.

The IPHC holds similar mass weddings three times a year, including during Easter, in September to mark its New Year and again over the Christmas period.

Increased traffic volumes

Meanwhile the Polokwane Municipality anticipates increased volumes on the R71 between Moria and Polokwane as the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) and Saint Engenas ZCC pilgrims are expected to start departing from the Easter conferences.
