Surrounded by seven correctional service officers Mr Tertius du Plessis appeared in court this morning.
The shackles around his ankles broke the silence as he scuffled forwards the dock to face the magistrate, Mr Vusi Mtsweni on Thursday, April 8. The case was postponed to June 15.

Du Plessis, the suspected killer of 86-year-old Ms Johanna Rossouw objected to the postponement but was silenced by the magistrate who reminded him of the seriousness of the case.
The post mortem report is still outstanding.

The relentless and violent murder sent shockwaves throughout the city.
According to Brig Leonard Hlathi, provincial police spokesperson, Rossouw’s hands were tied up with a silk cloth, and she was stabbed several times.
“There were no signs of struggle,” Brig Hlathi said.
A spokesperson for the security company at the old age home said their guards immediately suspected there was something wrong when an unknown man drove Rossouw’s car and opened the security gate using her remote control.
The security guards went to her house to check on her, knocked, and when there was no response entered the house and found her.
