Elderly couple attacked and robbed on smallholding outside Mbombela
An elderly couple of a smallholding near Mbombela was assaulted by two attackers.
The incident happened at 09:00 on Tuesday (September 7) when two young men approached them at their home.
According to Albert Gryvenstein of Bossies Community Justice, one of the attackers was armed. “They demanded the key to the safe, which the couple did not have in their possession, which led to their assault,” said Gryvenstein.
Fortunately, the couple was not injured too seriously, except for a cut from a sharp object to the woman’s head.
“The attackers, however, fled with some stolen houseware, jewellery and R400 in cash,” said Gryvenstein.
Hi-Tech was called out to the scene at 11:00. The couple, who cannot be named at the moment, were treated on the scene.
The police are busy investigating the case, according to Gryvenstein. Col Donald Mdhluli, the spokesperson for the Mpumalanga SAPS, said he would give more information about the case once he had received the file.
