Elderly man’s ear reattached after KZN attack

A pensioner is recovering in hospital after being clubbed on the head with a metal object by armed attackers.

An 84-year-old Howick man had to undergo emergency surgery on Thursday night to reattach his ear after he was attacked and assaulted at his home.

According to a relative, the man was having supper in his cottage at around 19:00 when three attackers entered the property.

Two of the attackers were armed and wore masks.

“It all happened so quickly, he did not see them coming and they clubbed him on his head with a metal object, which split his ear in half.

“They told him they were looking for money and guns. After the men assaulted him, they tied his hands behind his back with two separate ropes. They then ransacked the place and left after locking the house.”
