Coalition governments represent different political ideologies, cultures and ideas. But can they work in South Africa?

As South Africa gears up for its seventh national election since the dawn of apartheid, polls and political experts have predicted that support for the ANC could fall below 50%.

Should this happen, South Africa will probably be left with multi-party coalitions, which have had mixed results in municipal governments across the country.
