The family of Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the people of South Africa who stood beside them during the search for Elizabeth and throughout the devastating loss of their loved one, reports Kempton Express.

Elizabeth, 38, went missing after leaving her home in Rhodesfield for a run on September 9. Her body was found in the Rhodesfield area on September 12.

In the days that followed, communities came together to support the Moselakgomo family, with people organising vigils and special runs, attending memorial services and her funeral, and helping keep Elizabeth’s disappearance in the public eye.

Family spokesperson Dawn Gounden said the family was deeply grateful to everyone who played a role in ensuring that Elizabeth received a dignified and respectful farewell.

“Every gesture of kindness, support and compassion has been deeply appreciated,” said Gounden.

The family also thanked the search teams, runners, volunteers, community members, organisations and individuals who assisted while Elizabeth was missing.

They shared her appeal, searched for her, provided information and stood alongside the family during the search.

“Your efforts will never be forgotten,” the family said.

The family said it remained hopeful that the ongoing SAPS investigation would provide answers and bring justice for Elizabeth and her loved ones.

They also expressed their appreciation to the numerous media houses that reported on Elizabeth’s disappearance and continued to keep her story in the public eye.

According to the family, the media coverage helped create awareness and they hoped it would encourage greater vigilance and contribute to protecting other women from becoming victims of violence.

“Elizabeth was not simply a missing person report or a headline. She was a mother, daughter, family member and a beautiful soul whose life mattered deeply,” the family said.

“She will forever be loved, cherished and remembered for the beautiful person she was.”

The family has asked that Elizabeth’s memory be honoured with dignity and that her loved ones be given the necessary time and space to grieve.

As the investigation continues, the family said it remained hopeful that answers would emerge and that Elizabeth’s legacy would be one of love, community and remembrance.
