A man accused of a brutal panga attack that left one victim without a finger and injured another is expected back in court next month.

The man accused of a brutal panga attack in Old Coronation, eMalahleni, has been released on R1 000 bail by the Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

Witbank News reports that the incident occurred on March 28 when the victims’ car got stuck in the middle of the road.

According to reports, the suspect parked behind the car and approached the victims, demanding that they move the vehicle. One of the men refused to comply. Moments later, the suspect attacked one of the men with a panga, slashing his leg and hands.

The victim also reported that the attacker tried to strike him over the head. Another man was injured during the attack, and one of the victims lost a finger.

The accused was arrested on March 29 and made his first appearance in court last Tuesday.

The case on Wednesday was postponed to May 6 for further proceedings.
