A 13-year-old boy who reportedly attended an initiation school without his family’s consent has died, leaving his grieving grandmother demanding answers about what happened in his final hours.
A teen tragically died after falling sick at an initiation school. Upon his arrival at Siphonsimpi Clinic on Wednesday, he was declared dead.
The 13-year-old, Siymthanda Nkosi went to initiation school without his family’s consent and was taken to the local clinic by members of the initiation school when he got sick, Witbank News reports.

Tears ran down Gogo Bongisiwe Nkosi’s face as she tried to make sense of the incident. She wants to know where her grandson died and what happened to him during his last hours.
“We need to know what happened, under what circumstances did Siymthanda die. He was too young to die,” Nkosi said.
Speaking on behalf of the initiation school, Amos Mlangeni confirmed that Siymthanda was the initiation school.
He said Siymthanda started with stomach problems on Tuesday.
“During the night we noticed he was not himself. It was decided to take him to the clinic for medical assistance,” Mlangeni outlined the events from the school’s perspective.
Nkosi still believes there are many unanswered questions and is waiting for the inquest investigated by Vosman SAPS to be concluded.
