EMPD investigating ‘drinking’ in state car despite apology
The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department is currently conducting an investigation to establish which officer’s vehicle had been used by a woman for her own private photoshoot.
EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasaso said the unit would investigate and establish the name of the officer responsible for the vehicle, who would then have to explain the incident, after which there would be disciplinary action, Boksburg Advertiser reported.
This after pictures of the woman, holding alcohol while sitting in the driver’s seat of a marked EMPD vehicle, went viral on social media.
The woman in the photographs, Tshidi Ford, admitted to posing in the state vehicle with alcohol.
She posted an apology on her Facebook page yesterday. She said the following, “My humble apologies to all. I have caused a stir by sneaking into an EMPD car while it was being washed and took pics. I’m really sorry, didn’t mean any harm.”
Ford’s images went viral on social media over the weekend, creating a storm of comments on Facebook as people criticised her actions.
Kgasago said the matter was with the EMPD’s integrity and standard unit.
It remains unclear where the photos were taken or if the woman in the picture is an employee of the EMPD.
