Eskom predicts no load-shedding during daytime in coming days

Stage 3 power cuts are scheduled during evenings.

Eskom says load-shedding will only be implemented during peak hours and suspended from midnight until 16:00 daily.

The improved load-shedding schedule is because of three units being returned to serve.

Currently, there are breakdowns of a unit each at Kriel and Hendrina power stations. There are delays in returning units to service at Grootvlei, Hendrina, Majuba and Tutuka power stations.

Breakdowns currently amounts to 16 115MW while 3 766MW in unavailable due to planned maintenance.

The load-shedding schedule is as follows:

  • Stage 4: Today 16:00 until midnight.
  • No load-shedding: 00:00 – 16:00 on Monday.
  • Stage 3: Monday 16:00 – 00:00.
  • No load-shedding: 00:00 – 16:00 on Tuesday.
  • Stage 3: Tuesday 16:00 – 00:00.
  • No load-shedding: 00:00 – 16:00 on Wednesday.
  • Stage 3: Wednesday 16:00 – 00:00.

The power utility says it will publish an update when there are significant changes.
