Eskom to continuously implement stage 6 load-shedding
The power utility says it has to manage emergency reserves to supplement generation capacity.

Eskom has pulled the plug on lower stages of load-shedding during the day in favour of 24 hours of stage 6, starting at 16:00 today.
This, the power utility says, is due to severe capacity constraints, which necessitates tighter management of the ‘limited emergency generation reserves’.
Eskom last night announced that daily stage 6 and stage 4 load-shedding would be implemented throughout the night and day, respectively, after seven units tripped. However, further generator breakdowns forced it to announce this afternoon that continuous stage 6 load-shedding will be implemented until further notice.
Breakdowns currently amount to 18 041MW, while 5 739MW is unavailable due to planned maintenance.
Eskom requests the public to reduce electricity usage and exercise patience and tolerance during this difficult period.
