Eskom to implement stage 2 and 3 power cuts daily
Load-shedding is expected to continue for the next six to 12 months.

Following yesterday’s announcement that South Africans should brace themselves for prolonged load-shedding, Eskom has announced daily power cuts of stage 2 and 3.
The power utility says that ‘until further notice’ stage 2 load-shedding will be in effect every day between 05:00 and 16:00, while stage 3 load-shedding will be implemented daily between 16:00 and 05:00 the next morning.

Eskom also announced that a contractor at the Camden Power Station was arrested yesterday, after he was linked with an incident of sabotage.

Meanwhile, the South African Government said they will work with the struggling power utility to ensure that generation units return to service as scheduled.

Eskom COO Jan Oberholzer yesterday announced that Koeberg Unit 1 will be taken offline on December 8 and is only expected to return to service by June 2023. Kusile unit 1 (duct failure) and unit 2 (precautionary delay) went offline on October 23 and a date is yet to be determined when they will return to service. Meanwhile, unit 3 at Kusile was taken off on November 3, also as a precautionary measure, and a date to return to service is also yet to be announced.
