Eswatini authorities ease Covid-19 restrictions

People who visit Eswatini no longer require proof of full vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test.

The Eswatini government has taken a decision to ease some of the Covid-19 regulations for people who wish to visit the country.

According to acting prime minister Themba Masuku, the country has observed a low number of infections of Covid-19 since September.

“It’s worth noting that we have remained vigilant in monitoring the daily number of cases, closely following the early warning indicators in terms of new cases, the positivity rate and the number of admissions, and also monitoring the circulating variants,” he said.

Masuku said the government has taken the decision to ease some of the prevailing measures. Entry into the Kingdom of Eswatini no longer requires proof of full vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test.

Meanwhile, according to the World Health Organisation, during the week of October 31 to November 6, the number of new cases worldwide decreased by 15% compared to the week before.

“As of November 6, 629 million confirmed cases and 6.5 million deaths have been reported globally,” their weekly epidemiological update states.
