A Dundee business owner died after being shot during an armed robbery in the town’s CBD, with suspects fleeing the scene.

A Dundee business owner has died after being shot during an armed robbery in the town’s central business district.

According to the Dundee Courier, the incident took place at the premises shortly after 10:00.

Armed robbery unfolds

Witnesses told the Courier that two men entered the building under the pretence of buying water and walked upstairs. One of the suspects took the cash register and headed downstairs, prompting a staff member to press the panic button.

The owner responded and ran upstairs, where a scuffle reportedly broke out. During the altercation, a shot was fired.

Witness accounts

A truck driver parked outside said he saw three men leave the building and walk towards the nearby Spar parking area.

Police response

Police and paramedics responded to the scene, but the victim died shortly afterwards. No arrests have been made yet.

The Courier reached out to local police for comment but none was received at the time of publishing.
