The men, two armed with knives and the other two with firearms, robbed the Meeting Place Tavern in Pretoria on Wednesday.

Four armed men walked out with about R120 000 and a bottle of whisky when they held up a tavern owner and a security guard during a robbery in Pretoria on Wednesday.

The men, two armed with knives and the other two with firearms, entered the Meeting Place Tavern in the central business district just after 8pm, police spokesperson Constable Mandlakayise Zwane said.

The men used their weapons to threaten the owner and security guard.

No shots were fired and no one was injured.

The men fled the scene and no arrests had been made, said Zwane. Meanwhile, the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court handed a heavy sentence of 30 years’ imprisonment to Michael Yekwa, 32, for robbing an Edgars store in August 2015.
