Free State municipality recovers critical systems after cybersecurity breach

A cyberattack has affected several of the Mangaung Metro Municipality's systems.

The Mangaung Metro Municipality is still in the process of restoring the city’s technological services following a cyberattack on the systems that took place recently.

“The ICT team has successfully recovered critical systems such as Solar (financial system) and HR Focus (HR system), among others,” said the MMM.

According to a statement by the metro, the finance department is in the process of updating all financial records, so that transactions can be executed.

“The relevant teams are working around the clock to ensure that customers who have not yet received their October accounts will receive them within the next few days.”

The City, however, encourages consumers to still make payments via the various payment platforms made available.
